Artificially aerated waters provide a healthier environment for aquatic life and prolong the “life” of a water body. Benefits of proper aeration include:
- Prevention of winter or summer fish kills.
- An increase in healthy fish habitat resulting from the complete de-stratification of the water column throughout the lake or pond.
- Elimination of noxious gas build-up caused by anaerobic decay.
- Improved water quality.
- Reduction of certain nutrient problems through oxygenated bottom interactions.
- Increased decomposition of organic materials in an oxygenated bottom.
Marine Biochemists offers a complete line of aeration and fountain systems to meet both functional and aesthetic tastes:
Compressed-air systems:
Compressed-air systems utilize diffused air to lift water from the bottom of a lake or pond to the surface where oxygen is absorbed and decay gases are released to the atmosphere. Compressed-air systems are typically the most energy efficient means of aerating small to large bodies of water.
Compressed air systems consist of a compressor mounted on shore and diffusers weighted on the bottom of the lake or pond connected to the compressor via tubing (Self-Weighted Aeration Line available). The fine air bubbles that flow through the diffusers lift the water near the bottom to the surface where an efficient exchange of gases in the water can occur (anaerobic and other gases given off and oxygen taken on). The water lifted from the bottom is eventually replaced by the surface water providing a turn-over of the water column.
Stratified Ponds (above) have stagnant water layers with varying levels of dissolved oxygen. Aerated Ponds (below) distribute dissolved oxygen evenly throughout the water column.
Bottom-mounted, Floating or Attached Horizontal Aerators:
Bottom-mounted, Floating or Attached Horizontal Aerators are ideal for circulating shallow bays/frontages where compressed-air is limited. These type of aerators can keep areas clear of floating plant material (watermeal, duckweed, etc.) and surface debris.
Fountains/floating vertical aerators
Marine Biochemists services what we sell including:
